STORY: This fairy narrative satire continues legal from the first movie as Shrek and Fiona are on their honeymoon. Prince Charming finally reaches the castle only to earn the “gender confused” titanic abominable wolf reading Pork Illustrated. The movie is basically focusing on the self awareness of who Shrek and Fiona really are. The fairy godmother of Fiona and the mother of Charming is out to fabricate definite that Fiona falls in like with Charming and not Shrek. As Shrek is lost in the woods he stumbles upon the masterfully crafted character that is Puss In Boots. Puss is probably one of the greatest fictional characters of all time, he is played to perfection by Antonio Banderas. The first Shrek was a puny satire on the fairy fable genre. Shrek 2 is an extraordinary high on satirical parody (if that makes sense) . The pop culture references reach flying in one after the other. I really feel that any body under 12 will not pick up most of the jokes made in this movie. For the kids we have the farting and the burping and for the more learned individual we have references to gender confused wolves, cats on catnip, meeting the in-laws, crazy wooden boys with uncommon fetishes, the ass, and tons more. There is no arrangement that anybody cannot contemplate this movie and not laugh. If you need to compare Shrek 2 to something glimpse at it as a lighter version of a Family Guy, Airplane, or Hot Shots type of thing. While the references are not as exaggerated as they are in parodies such as Hot Shots, they are very well placed and well executed. While many people feel that the myth and the “heart” that the first movie had was lost within the many gags there is collected that “heart” that the characters bear. Yes, the ending is your typical fairy yarn ending that has a indispensable correct, but then again this is a fairy legend. This movie is sparkling, humorous, and overall a well-crafted fragment of work.

ACTING: All the archaic cast members return as well as the noticeable additions of John Cleese, Julie Andrews, and Antonio Banderas. I can’t snarl unprejudiced how amusing Puss In Boots is. Without Puss the movie would without a doubt have been really uninteresting and “kiddyish” if you will. The most comical jokes are deployed in the film’s ending which is a hysterical romp. John Cleese plays the excited father and Julie Andrews as the accepting mother. Prince Charming is played by Rupert Everett, and really his only comic scene was when they stopped by drive thru and he got a kiddie meal and was wearing one of those paper crowns as found in burger king. The cast makes the film, Puss makes the film.

BOTTOM LINE: The kids will not procure this one droll except for the microscopic amount of fart gags. The people who will obtain this the most comic will be in the range of 15 to about 50. Anything above 50 might pick up any kind of animation too childish and will probably stop away from this one unless they have young kids. The animation by Dreamworks is amazing as well, design price of the scene in the rain and impartial how realistic the natural surroundings behold. Shrek 2 is faster and funnier than the recent and should become a classic impartial because of how radiant the movie is.

I first saw this with some friends, then took my parents to ogle it the next day. I was amazed at how many shrimp nuances I missed the first time around. This film is jam-packed with hidden tongue-in-cheek jokes and visual humor – there is so grand detail. This film is a delight for young children to the senior area and everyone inbetween.

Eddie Murphy is attend as the lovable Donkey – his is perfect in this role and personally, I deem he (Donkey) should have his absorb spin-off movie. This one character is a movie unto himself.

Joining the crew from the modern Shrek installment are Julie Andrews (Fiona’s mother), John Cleese (her father), Antonio Banderas (Puss-n-Boots) and Jennifer Saunders (the playful Fairy Godmother) .

The clever ways in which the screenwriters crooked the fairytale characters while smooth giving them reverence and respect is enough to effect you wail from laughing so hard. There are inferences to movies such as “Flashdance” and “Mission Impossible” and many others. Pinnocchio is no doubt a wooden embodiment of Michael Jackson (high-pitched stammer, obedient dancer, longs to be a diminutive boy, etc.) and there are many inferences to notorious people… there is even a helicopter thought of police chasing a white bronco!

There were very few moments in this film in which I was not laughing outloud or doubled-over – and in those few instances, it was to obtain my breath.

This film is an instant classic that is marvelous to exhibit to your kids and grandkids from now until generations to reach.

On top of the astounding animation and lovable characters, the underlying memoir is an awesome theme to insist to children: it’s not how you search for or how other people treat you that matters – it’s the drawl of your character and how considerable you treasure others. I cannot recommend this film enough – it is one of the best of the year.

This dvd has been ruined by being in a full-screen format. Full Screen crops the theatrical picture to 4:3 ratio which is the shape of a standard (non-widescreen) TV screen. There is no letterboxing, but up to a third of the original picture is lost. WIDESCREEN preserves the original theatrical picture ratio of the film which will appear in “letterboxed” format on a normal TV screen. If anyone has an all-region dvd player, I recomend going to Amazon UK and ordering the region 2 PAL Dvd version. It Is in widescreen

I am forty-years old and have been a PpG fan since day one back in November of 1998. I LOVE THE PPG MOVIE! Some people do not understand that this is the prequel to the TV series, so of course it will not have all the villains in the movie. Craig McCracken wanted to balance out the film where fans of the show, and people who have never seen the PpG, can enjoy it. The movie is just like the TV series.
I am happy to see that Craig did not make any improvements to the characters as other films do that go from TV to the big screen. He kept the characters the same as they are on the show. The animation is a little better.
The movie makes references to such films “Planet of the Apes,” “Conquest of the Planet of the Apes,” “The Wizard OF Oz,” and “King Kong.”
My favorite scene is where the girls are playing tag in Townsville. The girls are having a ball playing tag around Townsville. They do not realize how rough they are playing and in the process, they are destroying the town.
This film makes you laugh while other animated shows take themselves too seriously. The PpG reminds me of the Cartoons I used to watch when I was a kid. Cartoons like Atom Ant, The Beatles Cartoons, Spider-Man, Top Cat, the Impossibles, and the campy 1966 Batman TV series.
It is not only the animation that makes the movie great; it is also the talents of the voiceover actors that bring the characters to life. E.G. Daily, Tara Strong, Cathy Cavadini, and the rest of the cast make these characters laughable, loveable, and believable. Everyone has done an excellent job on this movie.
I hope Cartoon Network and Warner Brothers decide not to get rid of the cast of this fine and unique series. The show will lose many fans if CN and WB do decide to get a new cast. The cast was almost replaced before the voices were recorded for the movie. CN and WB did not want to pay the cast all the money that the cast were supposed to get for the TV series, the movie, and the PpG merchandise. I am happy to hear that things worked out for the film.
I was not disappointed with the PpG movie. I love the show more now after seeing the movie. I plan to see it again. I cannot wait of this movie on DVD.
If you only see on animated movie this year, see the Powerpuff Girls Movie. If you are not a fan or have never seen the PPG, you will be come a fan.

Wild Blue Yonder is Werner Herzog’s latest film, following the popular and acclaimed Grizzly Man and the equally compelling White Diamond. It is an excellent addition to a vast body of work that encompasses experimental (Fata Morgana), documentary (Little Dieter Needs to Fly) and narrative fictional works (Aguirre: The Wrath of God, and Fitzcarraldo). Wild Blue Yonder is neither strictly a fictional feature nor a documentary, but a peculiar hybrid of both, that makes creative use of “found” NASA footage combined with the narration of Brad Dourif (Deadwood) to create a surreal and beautiful science fiction fantasy.

The film is a bizarre and wonderful beast, that playfully embraces a range of ambiguities (and inconsistencies) of time and place and concept. For this I expect it will be infuriating (or tedious) to some, but I found it fascinating and delightful and at the same time poignant. It is also one of Herzog’s funniest films (while I’ve read festival reviews that suggest the humor in the film is unintentional it is exactly the kind of humor that pervades Herzog’s work, and he is too clever a director not to be in on the joke). Aliens travel across eons of time to reach salvation on our Earth, while astronauts explore the cosmos only to find the abandoned planet the aliens left behind as their best hope. Mostly ignored upon their arrival by a culture too caught up in materialistic pursuits, the aliens mimic the ways of the natives, attempting to ensure the success of their colony by building, before all else, a mall (that, like many malls scattered throughout the United States, eventually fails because people don’t come: things are cheaper at Wal-Mart). Later, in a brief summary of human history, the apparently last remaining alien describes the first great sin of mankind as the domestication of pigs, that forced them to settle down and eventually build strip malls. In the film the “Wild Blue Yonder” of Andromeda is simultaneously the here and now of this earth, deep in the seas of the Antarctic. What is said about the one could be equally said about the other. Herzog’s film is both a celebration of the human desire to explore (and of the remarkable ingenuity displayed by the scientists and engineers who are the poetic visionaries of the space program) and a lamentation of our stupidity and our shameless absence of wonder. The music and sound throughout the film — especially the remarkable singing of Sardinian vocalists — is vibrant, both otherworldly or transcendent, and traditional, harking back to simpler times. The cinematography is gorgeously rich; even if this film had nothing else going for it, it could be appreciated as a cinematic poem of lovely images. At the same time what makes the film interesting is the fact that the images don’t always fit easily with the narrative descriptions they seem intended to illustrate: a fact that highlights the peculiar status of this film as neither simply a fantasy nor a documentary, but a fantasy that, when juxtaposed with documentary images, serves to comment upon and urge reflection on the ideas that lead us to be fascinated with those images that are so revered by our culture (of early aviation, space flight, etc.). Brad Dourif is excellent as a narrator, channeling something of a peculiar mixture between Herzog’s own deadpan description and the neurotically energetic exuberance of someone like Timothy Treadwell.

The film can be interpreted in a number of ways: for example, the “alien” might as well be just a disturbed but intelligent individual, whose “madness” consists of an inability to identify with the human pathologies he sees to be leading us to planetary self-destruction, and envisions an Earth without humans, in many ways more beautiful than Earth at present. At several points in response to human mistakes he repeats, “I could have told them …” — his remarks and the story as a whole serve to comment upon the absurdity of what has long been an implicit vision of the space program (the idea that when we have “wasted” this planet we can always go somewhere else, the final frontier …). A literal interpretation of the alien is difficult, given that Herzog is deliberately loose with time in the film, and there can be little sense made of the ultimate chronology of the film (which depicts a narrator apparently in the present telling of things far past and in the distant future as if they were all in the past). In that respect, and as a work of experimental and cautionary science fiction, the film can perhaps be best compared to works like La Jetee by Chris Marker, and to Herzog’s own Lessons of Darkness and Fata Morgana. In any case it is a stunning film, that deserves to be seen much more widely by those who are willing to set aside a few of their conventional expectations from the movies and be overwhelmed by the peculiar blend of humor and pathos that is at the heart of this delightful film.

Note: while this review is based on a screening of the film, the dvd is scheduled to be released in November (by RYKO, which recently put out a very fine version of David Lynch’s Eraserhead, and which tends towards cult and independent films). Here is what they say on their website about the release:

Winner of Best Film: Critics Prize at the 2005 Venice Film festival , Werner Herzog’s (Grizzly Man) new feature is an epic vision of our search for a new planet to colonize while aliens (narrated by Deadwood’’s Brad Dourif) attempt to settle on our almost uninhabitable Earth. A revolutionary mixture of original NASA footage, amazing footage under the Antarctic ocean ( shot by musician Henry Kieser), interviews with cutting-edge scientists, all culminate into Herzog’s personal plea to save our own planet, The Wild Blue Yonder has fans, critics and skeptics alike in furor. An absolutely unique cinematic experience in a limited edition DVD release with hours of special features.

- Limited edition includes full-length director’s commentary, featurette, still gallery, bios and more!

“Astronauts lost in space, the secret Roswell object re-examined, an alien who tells us all about his home planet – the Wild Blue Yonder – where the atmosphere is composed of liquid helium and the sky frozen, is all part of my science-fiction fantasy.” – Werner Herzog

This film is a piece of art. Let it go at that and don’t expect the CGI version to come out in five years. It is meant to make you think about the bigger picture, ie, how Earthlings view the universe and where they fit. It tells a science fiction story more in the vein of “what if,” so if you can keep an open mind, then you’ll find yourself pondering the film even a few days after viewing it. I think it is best to see it on the big screen and with an audience in order to feel its comedy and enjoy the beauty of the NASA footage and the film’s astounding score. If you see it at home, dedicate an entire 90 minutes to viewing this movie, in the dark, the windows closed, without real-world interruption.

Essentially, Herzog’s a genius for projecting a science fiction fantasy story onto NASA’s Galileo footage and space shuttle coverage, complete with astronauts in their daily routines, and also original footage beautifully filmed by avante garde musician Henry Kaiser for the “liquid helium” sequences.

The music is perfect and Herzog himself calls the film an oratorio.

If you love the beauty and darkness of the film Baraka and the satirical parallel’s to real-world politics like in Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove, then you’ll get what is going on in The Wild Blue Yonder.

It’s a limited edition DVD; 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen; Dolby Digital Stereo; commentary featuring Herzog, Dourif and Norm Hill; Q&A, behind the scenes featurette, still galleries, and bios.

Black Sabbath is one of those movies that made a horrifyingly-indelible impression on me when I first saw it. In “The Fall of Water”, I can level-headed observe the contorted visage of the lifeless spiritualist as she fixes her malevolent witness on the woman who has robbed her in death. “The Telephone” was the weakest of the trio. But the third segment–The Wurdalak–gave me insomnia for days. As a lover of the vampire genre, I was struck by the twist in the primitive legend: a Wurdalak returns from the dreary to attack those whom he loved best on earth. Boris Karloff plays the title character, a paterfamilias who sets out to end a local bandit-turned-Wurdalak. If he has not returned in exactly three days, the family will know that he has been victimized, and must be destroyed. Of course, he returns unprejudiced after the three day label. The sheer alarm comes from the fact that the family knows the truth, but can’t admit it. The scene of Karloff cuddling and stroking his young grandson is enough to construct you want to call Child Protective Services! Really helpful stuff, and a clarion call to those who allege that one needs massive special effects or blatan, on-screen gore to succeed. Kudos!

Buyers be forewarned. Unlike the “also from” Anchor Bay trailers showing the American AIP version of “Dusky Sabbath”, what is on the disc is NOT that version. Instead this is the European Italian language version with subtitles and even Karloff’s enlighten is dubbed in Italian. Their advertising is very misleading for the unaware.

It is just too bad that they condensed this fantastic story into so short a film. What they have done is done well, but there are so many layers to the characters that are just left out. I think if I had not read the book some of the character’s choices and actions would have seemed too sudden or unjustified, due to the lack of character development.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Adam Bede! Click Here

I really enjoyed the portrayal of the characters and the acting itself with one exception. Patsy Kensit, though a fine actress, is too old to be playing Hetty. She also plays her as too worldly wise. Hetty is passionate and selfish, yes, but in spite of her desire to be worldly wise she is still very naive. She is described in the book as being like a soft downy peach with the stone hidden inside. I think the vain ignorance of her own naivitee is sadly lacking in this portrayal and makes you wonder what Adam ever saw in her at all.

Again, the rest of the movie is wonderful. Dinah and Adam and the other characters are spot on, but there needs to be more–especially if you have not read the book.

The story charts Adam Bedes development as he deals with two personal tragedies the death by drowning of his drunken father, the betrayal by his first love Hetty Sorrell and his best friend Arthur Donnithorne. The book is full of graphic descriptions of life in bygone times in a small rural community which contrasts strongly with life of today. Adam learns many hard lessons before he finds a new and richer love and the description of this love is beautifully drawn.

A lot of great films came out last year, 2007–No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, The Lives of Others, and so on–but I honestly can’t think of a better one than this: “Control.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Control! Click Here

This is a gorgeous and skillfully done film–all awash in silvery starkness, in luminous black and white–and all feeling so genuine and so far from anything fake or phony. I am not the suicidal singer of a New Wave band, I am not in love with a French journalist, and I do not think I married too early, but watching this, the movie really put me inside the man’s skin.

“Control” tells the story of Ian Curtis, Joy Division’s ill-fated lead singer–as well as his unfortunate wife, his band, his manager, his label, and his lover–and it does so without resorting to making it a slick biopic or a phony depiction of celebrity. It is one of the realest feeling films I have ever seen, and yet it doesn’t sacrifice anything compelling or filmic to be so. The story plows ahead with amazing music and a formidable drive, with scenes that are artfully shot and gorgeous to behold.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Control! Click Here

The film’s final scenes are indelible, cut forever into my mind, and the feeling the film invokes is powerful. I have never felt more genuinely punk than after seeing this–leaving the theater, I wanted to rip benches out of the ground and attack speeding cars head-on. More than that, I wanted to walk back into the theater, get another ticket, and watch it again. (I’m not really that into Joy Division either–at least I wasn’t before seeing this.)

“Control”: Best Movie of 2007. And Best Music Movie in Decades. So well-made and flawlessly executed that it couldn’t ultimately depress me–it could only excite me. It’s amazing.

Based on Deborah Curtis’s book, Touching from a Distance: Ian Curtis and Joy Division, Anton Corbijn’s fascinating and informative black-and-white film, Control (2007), chronicles the short, unhappy life of Ian Curtis (1956-1980), from his pursuit of art and literature at age 17 (while obsessed with David Bowie), to attending a Sex Pistols’ show in 1976 (where he met Joy Division bandmates, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, and Terry Mason), to his contributions as lead singer and lyricist for that brilliant post-punk band (which he joined the same year), to his May 18, 1980 suicide at age 23. Corbijn, who is perhaps best known for directing videos of Depeche Mode, U2, and The Killers, cast an unknown actor, Sam Riley, to play Curtis, and Samantha Morton to play the part of of his wife, Deborah Curtis. Curtis married Deborah in 1975, while they were just teenagers. They soon had a daughter, Natalie, in 1979, while Curtis was also working as a civil servant at a Job Centre in in Manchester and performing with the Joy Division at night. In his spot-on portrayal of Curtis, Riley not only resembles Curtis in his appearance, but in his portrayal of Curtis’s quiet, awkward demeanor. For the role, Riley masters Curtis’s unique dancing style while performing (reminiscent of the epileptic seizures Curtis was known to experience, sometimes even while on stage). Beautiful Alexandra Maria Lara plays Curtis’s extramarital lover, Belgian journalist Annik Honoré, the possible inspiration for the Joy Division hit single, “Love Will Tear Us Apart.” Corbijn’s film conveys all the existential angst, emotional isolation, alienation, and urban degeneration of his subject’s short life. The film’s dark, final scenes depicting Curtis drinking (on the eve of his first U.S. tour), while watching Werner Herzog’s 1977 film, Stroszek, and listening to Iggy Pop’s The Idiot, all the while contemplating hanging himself are profoundly haunting. Although this film will appeal to anyone with an interest in Joy Division, it deserves a much wider audience for its mesmerizing character study of a troubled young post-punk artist.

I really don’t understand all the bad reviews from critics and reviewers alike for I personally loved this movie. Now, it’s not the grandest spectacle to grace the big screen nor is it Russell Crowe’s finest hour, but `A Good Year’ is some quality entertainment and serves it purpose in the relaxed and happy season that is fall. Having just seen the poorly made and highly overrated `Catch a Fire’ I was ready to relax and watch something entertaining and enjoyable, and being the Russell Crowe fan that I undoubtedly am I decided that `A Good Year’ would be just that movie.

Buy,Download, Or Stream A Good Year! Click Here

Max Skinner (Crowe) is a stuck up British stock broker who at one time was a kind hearted soul, and his fondest memories are littered with his Uncle Henry (Finney) and his Chateau in France. Upon his Uncles death Max is left the sole owner of Henry’s estate, and in like fashion he flies out there in order to sell if for profit and make it back ASAP. What he doesn’t bank on is Christie Roberts (Abbie Cornish) showing up claiming to be the long lost daughter of Henry and claiming rights to his estate. Throughout the course of the film Max has to go through the stages of redemption, which include discovering the jerk he has become and rediscovering his inner child.

The two key components to his wonderful film is the scenery and the acting. The script and storyline as some have already pointed out is very unoriginal, we’ve seen this done plenty of times, but the beauty that is France, as well as the beauty that is Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard (who plays Fanny, the seductive woman who steals Max’s heart) more than make up for the familiarity. Crowe is, as many know, my all time favorite actor ever, and I feel that he can carry any film he touches. Whether you are a fan of his phone throwing escapades or not, you have to admit that the man is gifted, very gifted. Here he proves that by being just as compelling and engrossing laughing and smiling as he is riding into battle. Albert Finney and Marion Cotillard are also wonderful here, but to me it was little Freddie Highmore (such a talented young man) who outshined most in the cast (can anyone outshine Crowe…I don’t believe so).

Buy,Download, Or Stream A Good Year! Click Here

As I said in the beginning, I don’t understand all the bad press. So what if it’s no `A Beautiful Mind’ or `Gladiator’, so what if Russell was not Lucky Jack or James Braddock, `A Good Year’ is still a good time and Max Skinner is just as fun as Crowe ever was. I recommend it, I enjoyed it, no better yet, I loved every minute of it.

Oui, this is a “feel-good” movie. Oui, the script has almost no surprises in it. Oui, Ridley Scott, Russell Crowe and the rest of the cast must have had a great time shooting this.

Still, this movie delivers exactly what i expected. It made me smile, it made me laugh (”Lance Armstrong !”). It is a touch short on drama. Bon, to be honest the drama bit is poorly handled.

The actors are good and i did not feel i was making them a favour for paying to watch this movie. Ridley Scott delivers some nice views. Fair enough.

Relax, let the movie take you where you know it is going, and enjoy that simple pleasure. There are many movies out there with greater ambitions but that deliver far less.

Eve’s Bayou is a spectacular movie. The color and scenery is wonderful and the people are elegant and troubled. Even the character’s names stir up visions of dark swamp water and sultry heat. The story is told and seen through the eyes of little Eve Batiste played by a wonderful young actress named Jurnee Smollett. Eve takes us deep into her world which is filled with colorful characters and complex personalities.Diahann Carroll is fabulous as the old fortune teller Elzora with her insane laughter. Debbi Morgan as Aunt Mozelle Batiste Delacroix is something to behold. Aunt Mozelle has promised her family that she will not use her “second sight” to tell fortunes, but neighbors won’t let her keep her promise. They seek her out to find missing husbands anyway. Lynn Whitfied as the manor born wife is beautiful and poised as she tries to keep her family together in spite of her wandering husband (Samuel L. Jackson). Jackson is very sexy in this movie and his character has roving eyes as well as roving hands that don’t stop even when he is caught in a compromising position by his youngest daughter, Eve. This starts a set of events that lead to the total destruction of an already deeply troubled family.Although this movie did not make history at the box office my guess is that it will become a cult classic. Years from now this movie will be viewed for what it is, a brilliantly produced film. You can literally feel the Louisiana heat from Eve’s Bayou. Vannie

This is director Kasi Lemmons’ first film and she has entered the world of cinema with a very bold start. Eve’s Bayou is a very passionate story about life and love with a family surrounded by dark secrets. Lemmons’ has boldly introduced us to a world in which magic is obvious and characters are deeply developed. There isn’t one actor in this film that you do not fully appreciate. Everyone in this film gives everything that they have to help create this hidden masterpiece. Roger Ebert named this film the best of 1997, and I agree whole-heartedly. What makes this film different from other films of this nature is that Lemmons keeps us grounded. We are constantly reminded of where we are and whom we are dealing with. There is not some outside element trying to sneak in and disrupt the peace; it is a completely internal movie that allows us to devote ourselves to this desperate family. She controls Jackson with the greatest of ease, and gives us one of the most powerful child performances ever. If I had the chance to give the Oscar to Jurnee Smollett for her role of Eve in this film, I would have gladly handed it to her. Her performance commanded the film. She was the strongest and most beautifully developed character in this film. Smollett was outstanding. I have never been so impressed with a child actor as I was with her in this film. Her eyes gave us all the drama that we needed. I never thought that I would witness acting in its purest form come from a child. For anything, this film is worth seeing just for the performance of Smollett. She literally steals the scenes from everyone, even Mr. Jackson.

I mentioned earlier that I loved the fact that this film kept us grounded by continually showing us scenes from the bayou. It kept our minds focused on where we were and the environment that surrounded these troubled people. Amazingly, Lemmons has transformed this setting into more than just a place, she has given it life. Not only through our characters, but it also is the center of most of the magic that occurs. It is a very symbolic reference. A bayou is a creek or a secondary waterway that is a passageway to another larger body of water. In this film, Eve represents the bayou as she travels to her family, the larger body of water. Also, whenever Mozelle calls upon the “spirits” her first sight is of the bayou. Lemmons may be saying that the bayou is more than just water, it is the center of everyone’s universe in this town. Perhaps it has more meanings, but I really felt that Lemmons was using the bayou as more than just a place setting, it spoke to me more about the characters.

Finally, I would like to add that coupled with the amazing acting, Lemmons gives some of the most memorable direction behind the camera. The scenes when Mozelle speaks about how she lost her second husband (the one that loved her the most) because her lover wanted her to himself was riveting. Told through the mirror, this was one of the most interesting ways to tell a flashback. Instead of using the classic “black and white” or faded lines trick, Lemmons actually brought the scene to us. We witness it firsthand and this allows us to be impacted deeper. I felt the connection, and it worked.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Eve’s Bayou! Click Here

Overall, this was a gem. I wasn’t expecting to see such a caliber of acting and direction as I did in this film. The cinematography was outstanding. Lemmons has an eye and a passion for this film, and it is apparent with every scene that she captures. The Batiste family engulfs all of your emotion. Lemmons takes innocent children and captures you within their world, giving you only brief moments to breathe. She shows us the power behind Jackson’s voice and the ability he has to expand his career. This was a surprise for me, but a well enjoyed surprise. I suggest you check this film out when time permits. It is a rare find that you will probably see in the bargain bin at any local store. Pick it up and enjoy it. I do not think you will be disappointed.

Film buffs, DVD collectors, and John Hughes fans beware! The “Bueller…Bueller…” edition DVD does not include the commentary track by writer/producer/director John Hughes which was included on the current 1999/2000 DVD release. It is a gigantic commentary and is sorely missed from this edition.

I first saw “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” in 1991, and I’ve LOVED it ever since. I was so thrilled to gawk that Paramount was giving this classic film an upgraded DVD Special Edition. Upon seeing it however, I must say that I’m resplendent disappointed. The extras, although palatable, are sorely lacking what they could and SHOULD be. Most of the film’s major stars (and sometimes even minor ones like Kristy Swanson and Richard Edson) provide some updated interviews that are fun to peruse. But, the bonus material and interviews featuring Mia Sara are all from 1986! She obviously CAN’T be that busy these days, so doesn’t it obtain sense that an updated interview with her could have been included?

Also, the shooting script for this movie contains MANY deleted scenes and dialogue, some of which were a Big read and are stir to have been filmed. Ferris going through the house looking for money in some Weird places (all while the Pink Floyd tune “Money” was playing), as well as Cameron’s dad seeing his 1961 Ferarri being driven through Chicago’s streets by the two parking garage employees would have been Substantial to explore. However, the ONLY deleted scene we procure here is a behind-the-scenes version of the waiter at Chez Qui telling the trio that the food they were eating was pancreas (which of course was referred to later by Ferris in the taxi) . No suitable special edition DVD should be without a deleted scenes part. VERY disappointing.

Next, this edition (like the novel) does NOT include a theatrical trailer. It’s rare for even a bare bones DVD not to include at least one trailer, but nearly UNHEARD of for a special edition! It’s slither to collected exist, and I can’t beleive that it’s THAT hard to gather that they could not have dug it up for this “special” edition.

Finally, the recent DVD, while lacking a trailer, DID include a Broad feature-length commentary track by writer/director John Hughes. However, that commentary track is NOT included here! That was either a severe oversight or a downright mean fade by Paramount. How hard would it have been to reproduce it here? In carry out, its omission forces anyone who bought the recent DVD and wants to upgrade to the special edition to maintain the unique instead of selling or trading it, all because they want to support the commentary. Paramount should have at least made it possible that owning this novel DVD would provide the most complete “Ferris” experience presently possible by itself, but without the original’s commentary it doesn’t.

In summary, if you bought the recent DVD, then I scream you to hold it and unbiased rent this fresh version to give the special features a observe. Build the rest of what you would otherwise expend on this to set aside towards something more worthwhile. If you have NOT bought the current DVD however, then this would be a worthwhile seize to possess the extras that were not show on the unusual. But, do rent the modern to give a listen to that AWESOME commentary track by John Hughes.
